New Counter-Terrorism Training Workshops Launched Following Protection of Premises Act

Last week, Parliament passed the long-awaited Protection of Premises Act, formerly known as Martyn’s Law, marking a significant step forward in the UK’s approach to counter-terrorism and public safety.

The Act introduces new legal duties for those responsible for publicly accessible locations to consider the threat of terrorism and implement proportionate and practical measures to keep the public safe. Central to the legislation is the requirement for robust training and preparedness plans tailored to the level of risk associated with the premises.

In response to this critical development, Premier Partnership—drawing on over 30 years of expertise as a leading health and safety provider—has worked closely with counter-terrorism specialists to design and deliver targeted training solutions.

Two new workshops have been developed to support organisations in meeting the requirements of the new legislation:

Counter-Terrorism Awareness and Responsibilities Workshop (1 day): A concise yet comprehensive session designed to raise awareness of the Act, its implications, and the duties placed on individuals and organisations.

Counter-Terrorism Preparedness Course (3 days): A more in-depth programme providing practical guidance on risk assessment, security planning, and the creation of a preparedness plan aligned with the requirements of the Act.

These workshops are aimed at organisations across the public, private and voluntary sectors who now have a legal obligation to act.
