Exploring Unconscious Bias: Understanding, Identifying, and Mitigating Bias in the Workplace
Premier Partnership and Yellowday are collaborating to offer a unique opportunity of a free taster session on the intriguing subject of "Unconscious Bias."
The session promises to delve into the depths of biases that often operate beneath the surface of our conscious awareness.
What is Bias?
Bias, often misunderstood, is a natural inclination or prejudice for or against someone or something. It’s crucial to recognise that bias isn't inherently negative; it's a product of human cognition. However, it becomes problematic when it affects decision-making processes unfairly.
The heart of the session lies in exploring unconscious bias. Participants will embark on a journey of self-discovery, probing the question: Are you biased?
The session will shed light on various types of biases, including Affinity Bias, Attribution Bias, Confirmation Bias, Conformity Bias and more.
Unconscious Bias in the Workplace
A focus of the session will be on understanding how unconscious bias manifests in professional settings.
Participants will be equipped with strategies to mitigate the influence of bias in their professional lives. By fostering awareness and embracing inclusive practices, individuals and organizations can create environments that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Addressing unconscious bias isn’t just a moral imperative; it’s also essential for fostering innovation, creativity, and productivity in the workplace. By fostering a culture of inclusivity and equity, organisations can unlock the full potential of their workforce and thrive in an increasingly diverse world.

Are you ready for the Protection of Premises Act?
Last week, Parliament passed the long-awaited Protection of Premises Act, formerly known as Martyn’s Law, marking a significant step forward in the UK’s approach to counter-terrorism and public safety. The Act introduces new legal duties for those responsible for publicly accessible locations to consider the threat of terrorism and implement proportionate and practical measures to keep the public safe. Central to the legislation is the requirement for robust training and preparedness plans tailored to the level of risk associated with the premises.
