Course Information

This course will explore initial assessments and how they feed into risk management plans. The course culminates in how to devise an effective support utilising a person-centred approach and focusing towards successful outcomes.

This course will explore initial assessments and how they feed into risk management plans. This training culminates in how to devise an effective support utilising a person-centred approach and focusing towards successful outcomes. Safeguarding management, effective planning and assessment are key to success for all organisations and any plans should seek to empower professionals to make decisions which fit with ‘defensible decision making’ and effective practice utilising a multi-agency approach.

This training will provide participants with an understanding of social pedagogy and how to underpin these principles within the areas of safeguarding and will introduce models of effective safeguarding through the NSPCC. The success of such an approach can be evidenced in many areas of Europe and has been adopted nationally through organisations such as Derbyshire Looked After Children and are in line with modern safeguarding tools.

This course aims to provide professionals with the skills and tools to confidently manage such a challenging area of business and is built upon reflective practice to enable positive outcomes:

  • Introduction to social pedagogy and person-centered assessment
  • Understanding the principles of effective safeguarding management and defensible decision making
  • Developing effective exit plans which aim to develop the internal Locus of Control
  • Gaining an appreciation of risk models and principles which can be embedded into current organisational processes and procedures
  • To recognise the key signs and categorise of safeguarding with specific consideration to the areas of neglect and emotional abuse
  • To understand how the internal and external Locus of Control model is used to enhance risk management tools
  • To introduce NSPCC models to safeguarding with an aim of empowering young people and reducing levels of risk

    To provide essential safety information for staff at risk from sharps and blood bourne viruses.

  • Identify situations where you may be exposed to sharps and needle sticks and know safe precautions to take
  • Explore company policy and legal outlines on the management of sharps
  • Understand what to do if you suffer a puncture injury
  • Understand how to store and dispose of sharps and needlesticks
