Her Majesty’s Courts & Tribunals Service is responsible for the administration of criminal, civil and family courts and tribunals in England and Wales. They are also answerable for non-devolved tribunals in Scotland and Northern Ireland. They work with an independent judiciary to provide a fair, efficient, and effective justice system, and along with this, it is imperative that they maintain health and safety standards to the highest degree.
HMCTS invited Premier Partnership to create a bespoke health and safety package for their specific requirements. HMCTS employ around 17,000 staff and operate from locations in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
Premier Partnership designed tailored IOSH-accredited Health and Safety courses for HMCTS. A thorough and consistent approach was adopted from the start to minimise safety risks, and training included the crucial skills that all HMCTS personnel are expected to exercise in their varied day to day roles. These courses were reviewed and approved via IOSH’s rigorous approval process. This is the course list that Premier collated and provided to HMCTS:
- IOSH Accident Investigation
- IOSH Manual Handing Assessor
- IOSH DSE Assessor
- IOSH Fire Risk Assessment
- IOSH General Risk Assessment
- IOSH General Risk Assessment Refresher
Frequently reviewed and updated, these courses are delivered to HMCTS and include Risk Management in accordance with legislative requirements, Health and Safety management systems, risk identification, control measures to reduce or eliminate risks, reviewing risk controls and implementing changes and action planning. The General Risk Assessment and Fire Risk assessment courses provide the delegates with a complete understanding of managing risks in their workplace.
Commencing in 2012, Premier Partnership have delivered around 100 courses per year for HMCTS to thousands of delegates. Courses are delivered by Premier’s highly qualified and experienced IOSH-approved Health and Safety Tutors. Premier Partnership’s Health and Safety Tutors use their extensive subject knowledge and practical experience to relate the course content to the specific challenges faced by HMCTS personnel as they go about their daily duties. Each course concludes with an exam, and some feature both an exam and a risk assessment exercise by which means HMCTS delegates earn their official accreditation. The overall pass rate of HMCTS delegates is almost at 100%. The reception and response from delegates to the course has been fantastic, with a consistently high feedback score of between 8 and 10 out of 10.
